You can get an extended warranty for older higher mileage vehicles up to 150,000 miles on the odometer

If you’re buying a 3 or 4 year old used car, ask the seller to make sure there isn’t a transferable warranty already in place on the car. Check on the factory warranty – you can purchase an extended warranty right before the manufacturer’s original warranty runs out.

If there is no factory warranty left, you need protection from expensive car repair bills.

Look for these coverages:

Low-cost and includes comprehensive coverage for major components as well as mechanical breakdowns, including:

• engine
• transmission
• drive axle
• timing belt
• water pump
• fuel pump

Look for roadside assistance, car rental reimbursement and travel interruption expenses.
